Anand is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, Chartered Arbitrator and Certified Adjudicator with over twenty-seven years of professional experience in Quantity Surveying, Claims & Dispute Management, Project and Programme Management in UK, Mauritius, Dubai, Malaysia, Congo, Cameroon and Gabon with an emphasis on Project and Programme Management, Construction and Engineering Law and International Arbitration. He has also a good legal background and holds a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) and a Masters in Law (LL.M.). He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. He is presently the Chairman of the Mauritius Branch of the CIArb. He has also acted as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Procurement, Conditions of Contract and ADR Arbitration of the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB – a local regulating Body regulating the affairs of Construction Industry).

Anand has acquired detailed knowledge of the practical economics of construction projects, buildings as well as civil and mechanical engineering. He  has used this knowledge to specialise in the effective commercial management of construction projects, thereby maximising the financial returns achieved by his employers and his clients. To this end he has operated management systems and financial controls for individual construction projects. He has managed commercial and technical staff engaged in all commercial aspects from bid through procurement and construction to final settlement of projects, including “design and build” package contracts and PPP projects. Anand has extensive knowledge in Construction Law and drawn up many claims for extension of time, loss and expense as well as negotiated settlement on both sides of the industry on various forms of contract such as JCT, FIDIC, NEC, EAIA, JBCC, Bespoke Contract, etc.

Anand has acted as Sole Arbitrator and in a panel of 3, as Adjudicator and an expert witness for both Contractors and Clients on matter of construction law in relation to extension of time entitlement to loss and expense, and contractual interpretation, etc.

Anand has used his professional skills and expertise in risk evaluation and assessment to quickly and accurately evaluate the current and forecast final financial result of construction projects including very large international joint venture projects, for the purpose of company acquisition or disposal. Such work frequently identifies current and potential causes of disruption, delay, loss and expense, which can be avoided or mitigated.

Anand has a good knowledge of computer-aided network planning and works confidently in an English/French Speaking contractual environment. Anand is well versed in French Napoleon Code and English Law.
